The long, lazy days of summer are nearly at a close for all of our patrons headed back to school. Why does time pass so quickly? Judging by the number of raffle tickets in the brown bags in the children’s section, and the number of book reviews in the adult and teen cans at the circ desk, reading is alive and well during a Spring City Summer! Make sure your raffle tickets are in the bag for the prize of your choice by Thursday at 3pm. Also, help support the food pantry by bringing in a non-perishable food item to the basket in the Library lobby. You get two raffle tickets for your donations!
Come celebrate with us on Thursday, August 15th at 6:30pm. We are having an end of summer party featuring Eleanor Wanamaker and ice cream! Thank you for participating in our summer reading program and making it so successful. This past week, a boy came up to the circ desk and proclaimed exuberantly, “I LOVE to read!” I LOVE to hear this. He and I chatted about how reading is an entertainment that never goes out of style and is something you can pursue your whole life long. Books open doorways in the mind that otherwise might remain closed. So, while I am sad to see summer go, I am thrilled that so many have taken part in summer reading!
